Ugandan musician Kalifah Aganaga found himself in a tight spot over the weekend after an unexpected dispute broke out following his performance at a popular hangout in Butaleja District. Though the singer made it to the venue and took the stage, trouble was already brewing behind the scenes.
Delays on the road had pushed back his arrival time, causing him to show up much later than the time agreed upon in his contract.
Once Kalifah finished his set and prepared to leave, the crowd and event promoters were far from satisfied. Believing the late arrival cheated them out of a full experience, a group of frustrated revelers alongside the organizers blocked his exit.
They insisted that the singer extend his performance past the scheduled cutoff to make up for the hours he missed earlier in the night.
Plates Confiscated as Chaos Escalates
Unwilling to perform beyond his original commitment, Kalifah Aganaga firmly rejected their demands. His refusal quickly turned a tense verbal disagreement into a heated confrontation. In a desperate move to keep the artist from driving away, the organizers confiscated the license plates (UA 365AZ) right off his car, effectively trapping him at the venue until the conflict was resolved.
Recognizing that the situation was spiraling out of hand, Kalifah stepped in to de-escalate the drama. He offered a sincere apology to both the promoters and the audience, explaining that the long journey and unforeseen road challenges were the sole reasons for his delay.
Seeing his willingness to take responsibility, the organizers accepted his explanation, handed back his license plates, and allowed the singer to depart the venue in good spirits.
